Zell-phones[edit | edit source]

Zell Phones or Z-phones are devices based on a real life cellphones, but are adapted to provide functions for magic and candyorbs as well as provide the standard functions of a normal cellphone. "Candy Zells" are used to cast spells on other candyions across long distances. To initiate a Candy Zell, the caller either swipes their Candy Zell Card or puts their candyorb in the orb slot after inciting the incantation and then dialing the phone number of the intended recipient and hitting the cast button. The Zell Phone then processes the spell through the phone line and when the recipient picks up the phone the spell is released through the receiver of the phone. It is a useful function that allows candyions to cast spells across long distances, but a lot of teenagers misuse the function and instead use it to play pranks.

Development[edit | edit source]

The creation of Candyworld was based on the 2000 episode of I Am Sammi called "Candy City" that Robby London wrote. The original show title was called "Fashionitaz", about a group of friends by day who are popular girls with fab fashions and by night, they are stylish fashion defenders. Molly McCain thought this idea was a little generic. However, Andy Heyward, the C.E.O of DIC, asked if they could combine the plot of Candy City and Fashionitaz together to create Candyworld.

Production[edit | edit source]

All 6 seasons of the show are produced by DIC Entertainment. The show has a co-production with McCain-Donahue Productions. This is the second show to not use Canadian actors (with the exceptions of Sharon Hughsman and Tara Strong), since 1993's Sonic the Hedgehog (SatAm).
