Gingo Movies is the motion picture production arm of the American cable television channel Gingo. Founded in 1996, it has produced animated films based on Gingo programs such as Zina and the Vivid Crew and The Ace of All Trades Movie: Too Hot For Theaters!, as well as other adaptations and original projects. Its films are co-produced and/or distributed by fellow NBCUniversal/Comcast division Universal Pictures.

History[edit | edit source]

In 1995, Gingo forged a 5-year contract with Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer to make feature films. The joint venture would mostly produce new material with Multimedia Motion Pictures co-producing and co-financing, though a Gingo spokesperson did not rule out the possibility of making films based on Gabriel Garza, Ray Eilo, BJ and Wally and Metro Cone. None of the movies were produced due to the 1996 acquisition of Gingo's parent company Multimedia by MCA, and Universal Pictures would distribute the movies instead.
